I got my Intuos Serial tablet to work on Win 7 64 thanks to a helpful forum post (that I dont’ recall atm)ġ) Uninstall any other wacom drivers and unplug any other wacom tablets.Ģ) download the international intuos driver 6.10.6 (from the UK wacom site)ģ) Right-click on the driver and under properties > compatability, set to run program in windows 2000 mode.Ĥ) shut down computer and attach your serial wacom tablet and power supply to your PC.ĥ) start your system up and install the 6.10.6 driver. Thanks to HDMI and good-old-serial I can hook my PC and my laptop to my display. So right now my new Dell Inspiron laptop is sitting in the dining room, for everybody’s quick use and the old slow Toshiba with Pentium 4 CPU is to the right of my displays. I got the old laptop, where Windows XP is still on, installed a driver for the serial-to-USB adapter, installed the tablet drivers and BAM! Everything worked just fine. Maybe the universe just doesn’t want my Intuos to work on the “high-tech” computer with Win 7, 64bit. You can’t expect a hobby painter to throw away his perfectly functioning graphic tablet and buy a new 500 bucks expensive one!Īfter lots of hours of installing, rebooting, testing, deinstalling, reinstalling and even more testing I gave up. Seems like my tablet is dead once and for all.Īnd even after a marathon of different solutions presented on the internet, my tablet remains dead. Serial Tablet are no longer supported and neither does Windows now have drivers for “ancient” (citation from a Wacom response in their forum!) hardware either.

At least until I changed my OS from Windows XP 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. But no matter how difficult it was, it always worked in the end. As long as the usual rules didn’t apply, everything was “ the norm” for my Intuos 1.
Sometimes the older driver worked better, sometimes the newer one did the charm. Sometimes the tablet had to be plugged in, sometime it mustn’t be. I never took less than 3 attemps to install the damn thing. But even back then the happyness couldn’t be taken for granted cause I always had some problems with the driver installation. Back then, the newest was Intuos 2, so when I was holding my cute little Inutos 1 A5 in my hands for which I only paid about 50 bucks, I was insanely happy. Long, looong time ago, when I still had time, creativity and the will to paint, I bought a second hand Wacom Intuos 1 Graphic Tablet.
